The company’s spring production, Fairy Tale Courtroom, reimagined classic storybook villains — the Big Bad Wolf, the Wicked Witch, and others — as defendants before a jury of audience members. Witnesses for the defense included Snow White, Little Red Riding Hood, and the Three Pigs. Director Jenny Beeler and assistant director Paige Gauck led a cast of 19 young performers through all three performances, drawing laughs and surprises across every age group in attendance.
“We congratulate the cast of 19 talented young performers whose hard work, enthusiasm, and energy shined through in all three performances.”

Costumer Nancy Porter and the production’s behind-the-scenes crew also received recognition.
A musical pivot for summer
Not every season goes entirely to plan. TCP announced it will no longer stage Singin’ in the Rain as its summer production, citing limited interest and too few performers to cast the show. In its place, the company will present Dreams in the Spotlight: A Young Adult Broadway Revue — a showcase format in which young adult performers will bring Broadway songs from their dream roles to a single stage. Performances are scheduled for June 25 and 26 at 7:00 p.m. and June 27 at 2:00 p.m.
Youth camp returns with two age tracks
TCP’s Summer Youth Theater Camp returns July 22–24, led by Mrs. Morgan Straber. For the first time, the camp will split into two distinct age groups to allow more focused, age-appropriate instruction. Students ages 7–11 will meet from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and focus on stage time, theater games, and improvised mystery skits. The older group, ages 12–17, will run from 1:00 to 3:30 p.m. with a curriculum centered on improv, characterization, monologue work, and formal acting techniques. All campers will receive a souvenir T-shirt at the close of camp. Registration is available at treecountyplayers.com.
Spring showcase, sponsors, and officers
TCP also partnered with Feldman’s Music Studio for its annual Student Showcase in April, giving young musicians a one-night-only opportunity to perform for family and community members in a live setting. The organization described the evening as a demonstration of “hard work, dedication, and growth” achieved by students ranging from beginners to seasoned performers.
On the business side, the theater thanked its roster of season sponsors, and noted that sponsorship letters for the 2026–2027 season will go out soon. A season announcement for the coming year is also described as imminent.
TCP’s Board of Directors for 2025–2026 is led by President Amanda Gault and Vice President Kim Gauck, with Karen Matthews as treasurer and Jennifer Maddux as secretary.

(Greensburg, IN) — For Tree County Players, the curtain never really comes down. Fresh off a three-performance run of a whimsical fairy-tale courtroom drama, the nonprofit community theater group is already pivoting to a new summer production, a youth performance camp, and an expanded push for local sponsorships — all signs of a theater punching well above its small-town weight.
