Southeastern Indiana “Abnormally Dry”

(Southeastern IN) – Southeastern Indiana is considered “Abnormally Dry,” according to the U.S. Drought Monitor map released late last week.

In fact, most of the state falls under that category (pictured), while extreme Southern Indiana along the Ohio River and much of Northern Indiana are clear.

Meanwhile, Franklin County Commissioners issued a burn ban last week due to continuing dry conditions, among other factors.

Residents and visitors to the county are prohibited from lighting campfires unless in an enclosed ring; open burning of any kind, and the burning of debris while the order is in place.

The latest conditions will be detailed in the updated map coming out later this week.
