Ripley County Reads Park Hop begins March 12

RIPLEY COUNTY, IN — Ripley County Reads is preparing for its annual Park Hop, which celebrates local parks and provides an opportunity for participants to enjoy time outdoors.

This year’s program with story walks in participating Ripley County parks begins March 12 and runs through the end of April.

The Ripley County Reads Park Hop is a free, community-wide scavenger hunt throughout 17 area parks.

Participants can visit each park to answer the clue inside their Park Hop Passport, which is available for download at ripleycountyreads.com.

For readers under 18 years of age, there will be prizes for completing all clues at one, five, or more than 11 parks. These prizes will be given away at the finale celebration on May 1 at the Versailles State Park Shimmerhorn Shelter from 1 to 3 pm. The family-friendly celebration will include nature walks, a Nature Center program on reptiles, Kid’s Discovery Factory mobile exhibits, swag bags, and door prize drawings.

Ripley County Reads was founded by Ripley County’s Batesville Memorial Public Library, Osgood Public Library, Tyson Library, and the Ripley County Tourism Bureau. The goal of the program is to promote literacy, community, and education throughout the county.
