Rev. Charles Raymond Wilks, age 75, of Vevay, Indiana, entered this life on January 18, 1949 in Lake Charles, Louisiana. He was the son of the late Charles Holmer and Betty Jo (Guidry) Wilks. Charles was raised in Sulphur, Louisiana and was a 1968 graduate of Sulphur High School. Charles was united in marriage on January 2, 1969 in Sulphur, Louisiana to Marsha Kay Holcomb. This happy union of over 55 years was blessed with two children, Anthony and Stephanie. Charles faithfully served as an Evangelist for 14 years. He was formerly employed for the US Shoe Factory in Vevay, Indiana for six years. Rev. Charles served as the pastor at the Truth Apostolic Church in Vevay, Indiana for 16 years. Charles and Marsha enjoyed traveling and resided in Vevay, Indiana, Beaufort, South Carolina, Louisiana and Arkansas communities. He loved football and enjoyed watching the New Orleans Saints, spending time with his family and piddling around. Charles went to be with his Lord and Savior at 4:35 p.m., Saturday, August 3, 2024, at the Swiss Villa Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Vevay, Indiana.
Charles is survived by his wife, Marsha Kay (Holcomb) Wilks of Vevay, IN; his son, Anthony Wilks and his wife, Lisa of Vevay, IN; his daughter, Stephanie Droz and her husband, Jason of Savannah, GA; his grandchildren, Lauren Ford, Landon Wilks and his wife, Tristan, Cameron Droz, Drew Wilks and Carter Wilks; his great-grandchildren, Jayden Singleton, Shay Singleton, Julien Elam and Stella Wilks; his brothers, Larry Wilks and his wife, Earline of Spartanburg, SC and Eddie Wilks and his wife, Angie of Sulphur, LA; his sisters, Geri Heard and her husband, Richard of Houston, TX, Joann Fontenot and her husband, Leo of Lake Charles, LA and Mary Vincent and her husband, Russell of Sulphur, LA and his nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Holmer and Betty Jo (Guidry) Wilks and his brother, Ernest Lloyd “Ernie” Wilks.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Friday, August 9, 2024, at The River Apostolic Church, 6160 State Road 156, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Friday, August 9, 2024, by Rev. Nathan Batson, at The River Apostolic Church, 6160 State Road 156, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.
