Reds lose first 3 in home series with Milwaukee

After winning 5 straight, the Cincinnati Reds have hit a bit of a rough patch, losing 4 in a row, including the first three of their series with the Milwaukee Brewers over the weekend.

On Friday, the Reds lost in 11 innings 5-4, thanks to Brian Anderson and Andruw Monasterio scoring on fielder’s choices in separate at-bats. Jonathan India went 1-3 with a home run and 2 RBI.

Fernando Cruz took the loss in relief for Cincinnati. For Milwaukee, Elvis Peguero got the win, and Bryse Wilson earned the save for Milwaukee.

On Saturday, the Reds were handed a 10-8 loss thanks, in large part, to Milwaukee scoring all 10 of their runs in the first four innings of the game. Cincinnati managed to get back in the game late, but the early deficit was too much to overcome. Spencer Steer went 2-3 with 2 RBI.

Graham Ashcraft was saddled with the loss for the Reds, allowing 10 earned runs in 4 innings of work. Colin Rea earned the win on the mound for the Brewers, allowing 3 earned runs and striking out 5 in 5 innings. Milwaukee’s closer Devin Williams struck out 3 to record his 10th save of the year for Milwaukee.

In the final game of the weekend, the Reds struggled to get runs, losing 5-1. Much like earlier in the season, the Reds got behind early 3-0 and never recovered. Jake Fraley went 1-4 with a home run and an RBI.

Blake Lively took the loss on the hill for Cincinnati, giving up 5 earned runs and striking out 5 in 7 innings. Milwaukee’s Adrian Houser had a good outing to get the win, allowing just one earned run in 7 innings of play.
