Saturday night on WRBI, South Ripley Girls Varsity Basketball made it three straight wins over Batesville.  The Raiders beat the Bulldogs 33-25.

Batesville led 13-7 at the end of the first quarter thanks in part to Carly Pride’s pair of three points baskets.

BHS got up by eight early in the second quarter on a Gabby Elston bucket. But those were the final points of the half for the Dogs.  South Ripley netted the next six and trailed by just two at intermission, 15-13.

Alexa Heidt had five points after two quarters to lead the Raiders.

Each team hit two free throws over the first part of the third period as Batesville still led by two.  However, the hosts from Versailles took over lead on a two from Katelynn Samples and a three by Gracie Gunter.

The five-point run put Ripley ahead 20-17 at the end of three.  And then the Raiders added six more in the fourth to go up 26-17.

South Ripley got up by as many as 10 in the closing quarter before the game settled on an eight-point final, 33-25.

Gunter of Team Green led all scorers with 12 points, 11 of which came in the second half.  Emily Flood followed with eight and both Heidt and Sarah Meyer had with five.

Pride struck three times from the arc for the Blue and White to give her a team-best nine points.  Elston and Calley Kaiser both chipped in four.

Here are some other individual stat leaders provided by the schools:

Rebounds- (SR) Emily Flood 7, Sarah Meyer 7, Gracie Gunter 5
Assists- (SR) no multiples
Steals- (SR) Flood 3, Gunter 3
Blocks- (SR) Rachel Meyer 2

Both teams only hit around 20 percent from the floor and the turnover difference was just one.  Where the Raiders had advantages were in free throw shooting and rebounding.  The Raiders made 12 of 19 from the line while the Bulldogs were just 2 of 5.  Ripley had a plus-nine edge on the glass 36-27.

Batesville won the reserve game 31-28. Lydia Haskamp and Lizzy Nobbe scored seven and six respectively for the Bulldogs. Lexi Mozingo’s seven points were best for the Raiders.  Maria Izco, Katie Miller and Lexi Franklin all added a half dozen.
