ISP Purple Heart recipient a St. Louis School alum

BATESVILLE, IN — St. Louis Catholic School alum and Indiana State Police Master Trooper Joseph Livers recently received a Purple Heart for his bravery and sacrifice in the line of duty.

Livers was wounded during a November 2019 incident in rural Jefferson County when officers were called to a home on State Road 56, in which a man was barricaded in a home with a gun. The suspect shot Livers, who responded as an Indiana State Police-South Zone SWAT team member.

Master Trooper Livers was awarded a Purple Heart and Combat Action Award as a result of the incident.

Livers, who is the father of St. Louis 8th grader Noah Livers, was honored in a ceremony on November 12 at the Indianapolis Government Center.
