Purdue goes global and online

West Lafayette, In. — After a controversial ruling by the Higher Learning Commission, the Purdue University online college is expected to launch soon. When it goes online, about 30,000 Kaplan College students will transition with it.

Purdue recently acquired the for-profit college and renamed it to expand their online presence. Purdue Global will have a campus in Indianapolis. Some faculty members are concerned the Purdue brand could be tarnished if academic standards are not met.

Purdue says current Kaplan President Betty Vandenbosch will be the chancellor of Purdue Global and report to Purdue President Mitch Daniels and a six-member board of trustees.
