
According to Marion Township Fire Chief Matt Stone, Westport Community Volunteer Fire Department had the first fire truck to arrive on scene shortly followed by Marion Township’s fire truck.
The barn was used to store hay and straw which caused several hours of work for the firemen due to pulling and moving bales to get to hotspots in the fire. Crews were on scene for roughly 6 hours.
Westport, Letts Community Volunteer Fire Department, DCMH EMS, and Decatur County Sheriffs Department all assisted at the scene.
The fire was ruled as undetermined. The homeowner was asleep when the first units arrived. There were no injuries reported. The tenets are concerned as the hay and straw is used to feed
