Nancy Jean Ankenman, 88, of Aurora, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, September 23, 2020 in Milan, Indiana.
She was born June 1, 1932 in Piqua, OH, daughter of the late Horace Day and Ivaloo (Battson) Day.
She was a teacher for over 30 years, teaching math in many high schools, the last being Summit Country Day School in Hyde Park, Ohio. She then worked as a manger in the computing department at AT&T for the next 10 years. Nancy loved horses and traveling. She was a pianist, gardener, artist and animal lover, and she was very generous in sharing her home and family. Nancy attended many Bible studies. Her faith and family were very important in her life.
Nancy is survived by her loving family, daughters, Laura (Nick Werner) Ankenman of Aurora, IN, Barbara (Mike) Lies of Lawrenceburg, IN, Linda Granata of Hiwassee, VA, Lois (Mike) Diersing of Blacksburg, VA, Kelly (Roger) Azar of OR; son, Dale (Barb) Ankenman of Hebron, KY; siblings, Hannah Frank of Richmond, KY and Robert Day of Phoenix, AZ; 14 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. .
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald Ankenman, and sister, Helen Corn.
Friends will be received Sunday, September 27, 2020, 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm at the First Baptist Church of Aurora, 6060 Blair Road, Aurora, Indiana.
Services will be held at the Church, Sunday at 2:00 pm, with Pastor Bill Secrest officiating.
A private interment will follow in the Hogan Hill Cemetery, Aurora, Indiana. Contributions may be made to the For The Love of Aubrie Foundation, Cure SMA, UC Gardner Center for Parkinson’s Disease, or American Cancer Society. If unable to attend services, please call the funeral home office at (812) 926-1450 and we will notify the family of your donation with a card.
