(Lawrenceburg, IN) – An Aurora man is facing several charges for allegedly trying to disarm a police officer and resisting arrest.

Lance Davidson was arrested last Sunday morning on charges of Possession of Methamphetamine (Enhanced Level 3 felony), Disarming a Law Enforcement Officer, Battery on a Public Safety Official (both Level 5 felonies), and Resisting Law Enforcement (Level 6 felony).

A Lawrenceburg police officer traveling on State Road 48 was unable to read the license plate on a black Cadillac sedan, driven by Davidson.

After following Davidson into a park, the license plate came back to a different vehicle than the one it was on.

At that time, a traffic stop was initiated, during which Davidson explained to the officer he was “on his way to go fishing.”

Investigators says Davidson was unable to provide insurance and was asked to exit the vehicle, which he refused.

Additional officers arrived at the scene to assist.

While trying to remove Davidson from his vehicle, he allegedly became “extremely” combative and swung at the officers before unsuccessfully reaching for one of the officer’s gun.

During a search of Davidson’s vehicle, officers allegedly located 22 grams of methamphetamine, paraphernalia, and a small amount of marijuana.

Davidson was eventually subdued and taken to the Dearborn County Law Enforcement Center, where he’s being held on $250,000 surety and $25,000 cash bond.

The officers involved in the altercation were treated for small lacerations and scratches.
