
Farming was Louie’s passion and he was a huge Allis-Chalmers fan. A ride in the country or vacations were an opportunity to check out how other farmer’s fields were doing. He raised Holstein cattle as well and was proud that one his granddaughters’ had the Grand Champion Steer at last year’s county fair. A Reds and Bengals fan, Louie also liked playing cards, especially Solo and enjoyed taking trips to the Smokey Mountains.
He is survived by his wife Carol; daughter Sharon Eckstein of Sunman; son Mike of Oldenburg; stepdaughters Julie Vankirk of Morris, Nancy Meer of Batesville, Tracy Habig of Oldenburg, Margie Schwegman of Batesville; stepsons Nick Biltz of Greensburg, Dan Biltz, Ted Biltz; sisters Marilyn and Dolores Schwegman, all of Batesville; four grandchildren and twenty two step grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife Mary and his parents.
Visitation is Friday, May 25th, from 4 – 7 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home. Funeral services are 10 a.m. Saturday, May 26th, at Holy Family Church with Rev. Carl Langenderfer officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family requests memorials to the Benesse Oncology Center or the Mary Willhelm Schwegman Scholarship Fund.
