The Pittsburgh Pirates knocked off the Reds 8-3 in the series wrap up in downtown Cincinnati heard yesterday on WRBI. The Reds dropped two of the three games in the series. Andrew Abbott gave up four runs on five hits with three walks and five strike outs in 5 2/3 innings. He took the loss and is 0-1. Reigning National League Cy Young Award winner Paul Skenes finished with one run allowed on three hits and two walks over five innings with five strikeouts to square his record at 1-1. Over six career starts vs. Cincinnati, Skenes is 5-0 with a 0.53 ERA. Oneil Cruz and Bryan Reynolds homered for the Pirates. Eugenio Suarez clubbed a two-run, pinch hit homer in the 6th inning for Cincinnati. The Reds are off today before starting the first road trip of the season tomorrow afternoon at the Texas Rangers.
The Indiana Pacers dumped the Chicago Bulls 145-126 in NBA action heard last night on the Sports Voice. Paskal Siakam led all scorers with 25 points. The Pacers have won two in a row and three of their last five games. Their road trip continues tomorrow night in Charlotte.
The NCAA men’s Final Four teams are in Indianapolis preparing for Saturday’s national semifinals. Illinois faces UConn, followed by Michigan vs. Arizona. The winners on Saturday will advance to Monday night’s national championship game.
Former Indiana quarterback and projected #1 overall NFL Draft pick Fernando Mendoza reportedly impressed at IU’s pro day in Bloomington. Mendoza led the Hoosiers to a perfect season national championship and won the Heisman Trophy in his senior year at Indiana.
