Mr. William Thomas “Tommy” “Tom” Scott

Mr. William Thomas “Tommy” “Tom” Scott, age 84, of Moorefield, Indiana, entered this life on January 17, 1942 in Madison, Indiana. He was the loving son of the late, William Leslie and Sarah “Louise” (Heath) Scott. He was raised in Moorefield, Indiana, and was a 1960 graduate of the Vevay High School. Tommy proudly served his country in the United States Army and in the Reserves and later for the National Guard and was honorably discharged. On July 28, 1967, Tommy was united in marriage to Linda Sue Colen in Fairview, Indiana. This loving union of nearly 59 years was blessed with two sons, Glenn and Richie. A hardworking and dedicated man, Tommy farmed throughout his life. In addition to farming, he worked for Brown’s Farm Implement in Moorefield, Indiana and later for the State Highway Department for several years. Tommy retired from the Madison State Hospital in Madison, Indiana, after 35 years of service. A pillar of the community, Tommy was actively involved in numerous local organizations and dedicated much of his life to serving his community. He served on the Switzerland County School Endowment Board, the Switzerland County 4-H Fair Board, and the Switzerland County Purdue Extension Board. He was a longtime member of the Moorefield Community Fire Department, where he volunteered for over 50 years and served as assistant chief. Tommy also took great pride in refinishing the department’s old fire truck. Tommy was a member of the Vevay American Legion Post #185, where he proudly served on the honor guard and was a faithful member of the Fairview Baptist Church in Fairview, Indiana. Tommy enjoyed hunting, golfing, watching NASCAR, and attending church. Above all, he cherished time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Tommy passed away at 5:01 p.m., Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at the Norton Audubon Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.

Tommy will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Linda Sue (Colen) Scott of Moorefield, IN; his sons, Glenn Scott of Moorefield, IN and Richie Scott and his wife, Becky of Batesville, IN; his grandchildren, Lindsay Chandler and her husband, Jake, Michael Scott and his wife, Bailey, William Nicholas Scott, and Trace Scott; his great-grandchildren, Remi, Jaylee, and Briar Chandler and Stormi Scott; his sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Lila Scott of Madison, IN, and Jimmy Colen and his wife, Bonnie of Canaan, IN; his nieces and nephews, Maria Scott, Lauren Tracy, Kevin Colen, Kyle Colen and his wife, Sara, and Kris Colen and his wife, Jennifer; and his several great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Leslie Scott, died September 22, 1966; his mother, Sarah “Louise” (Heath) Scott, died January 16, 1979; and his brother, George Richard Scott, died October 13, 2021.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Monday, April 6, 2026 at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043 with the Fireman Service conducted at 7 p.m., Monday, April 6, 2026, at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 7, 2026, by Pastor John Hale, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, IN 47043.

Interment and full military rites will be conducted by the Honor Guard of the Vevay American Legion Post #185 and the Vevay VFW Post #5396 in the Vevay Cemetery in Vevay, Indiana. Last call will be conducted by the Moorefield Community Fire Department.

Luncheon will be prepared at the Moorefield Community Fire Department prepared by the Fairview Baptist Church.
