Jac-Cen-Del high school was the host of this year’s County meet tonight and Batesville continued to show their strengths. Both the boys and the girls had all 7 varsity runners named to the All-County team and the Bulldogs defended their championships.
Sophomore Ava Hanson led the way for the girls and was the County individual champion with a time of 21:05 as Maria Lopez was right on her heels earning the County Runner-up at 21:06. Lanie Nicholson from South Ripley took the 3rd place finish, while Batesville then flooded the line placing 4th-8th place. Madison Rahschulte (21:28), Lily Pinckley (21:36), Sophie Myers (21:44), Megan Allgeier (21:51) and Trysta Vierling (21:55). All named to the All-County Team. As a team, the girls scored a low 18 points with South Ripley coming in 2nd at 54 points and JCD 3rd with 73. Milan did not have a complete team.
The boys had very similar results. Batesville’s junior Ean Loichinger was named the individual champion at 17:02 and was followed closely by Benjamin Moster taking the runner-up spot at 17:18. Batesville then took 4th, 5th, 7th-9th. They were Adam Hollowell (17:51) and Daren Smith (18:02) in 4th and 5th. Then 7th-9th were Eli Loichinger (18:17), Will Nuhring (18:53) and Nathan Villani (18:54). Again all 7 varsity runners were named to the All-County Team. As a team the Bulldogs scored a low 16 with South Ripley edging out JCD 51-57. Milan did not have a complete team. Congratulations everyone!
Although the JV was not scored or given awards, Batesville was led by Carley Pride and Katie Olsen coming in 1st and 2nd on JV, but would have placed 12th and 13th in the varsity race. Kyler Daulton and Dillon Murray led the boys JV race and would have placed 11th and 12th amongst the varsity. Also for the night we did have some personal bests. They were Megan Allgeier, Eli Loichinger, Will Nuhring and Kyler Daulton. Way to go!
Bulldogs are looking forward to this Saturday as they will travel to East Central for their Invitational and hopefully some lower temps and humidity! The girls will start off the morning at 8:40 with the boys to follow. Good Luck dogs!
Franklin County High School Girls Varsity Cross Country falls to East Central High School 19-40.
Senior, Lauren Kelley, placed 2nd at the East Central dual meet. She stopped East Central from getting a perfect score of 15. However, East Central took the next five finishing spots. Junior, Katherine Apsley, was the next Franklin County finisher, crossing the line in 8th place.

Senior, Drew Grant, broke into the top 5 with his 4th place finish in the dual meet against East Central. Junior, Ben Maze just missed a top 5 spot with his 6th place finish, just 2 seconds behind Drew. Sophomore, Hunter Marshall, was the final Franklin County runner to have a top 10 finish. His time of 20:23, earned him a 9th place finish. The Wildcat Cross Country Team travels back to East Central on Saturday, September 5th, to compete in their cross country invitational.

The Batesville Middle School Boys won their cross country meet against Milan, Rising Sun, and Switzerland County on Thursday. Jake Chapman won the boy’s race, followed by Ethan Lacey, 2nd, Cannon Clark, 3rd, Isaac Trossman, 4th, Griffin Koester, 6th, and Lincoln Garrett, 10th.
The Batesville Middle School Girls finished 2nd against Rising Sun, and Switzerland County. Kaylynn Bedel won the girl’s race, followed by Paige Allgeier, 3rd, Charlotte Trossman, 8th, and Caitlyn Fox, 9th.

The Batesville Lady Bulldogs defeated the Lawrenceburg Lady Tigers at Hillcrest Golf Course by a score of 174 to 233.
Emma Weiler led the Lady Bulldogs with a score of 35. Other scores for Batesville were Josie Meyer 40, Tori Harpring 49, Rhea Miller 50, Madelyn Pohlman 53, and Chloe Murphy 59.

North Decatur High School Girls Varsity Golf ties Knightstown High School 0-0.
The Girls Golf team played against Knightstown at Royal Hylands. While neither team had enough players to post a team score, all golfers took this time to improve their game.

The Batesville Varsity Tennis team defeated Lawrenceburg 5-0 on Thursday.
Lleyton Ratcliffe, Cael Rahe and Jaden Smith won in singles. The doubles teams of Max Giesting/Sam Voegele and Jackson Tracy/Hank Ritter also won. In JV action, Batesville won 5-0. Lyle Oesterling, Alec Bunselmeier and Chase Schwegman won in singles along with the doubles teams of Cole Pride/Sam Johnson, Jackson Wanstrath/Landon Oldham.
Batesville is 4-4 on the season and 4-1 in the EIAC. They will host Franklin Co. on Tuesday at 4:30.

The Batesville High School Freshman Girls’ Volleyball team traveled to Franklin County Thursday.
It was a strong showing for the Bulldogs as they won in two matches, 25-12 and 25-21. In the first set the Bulldogs did not miss a serve for a perfect 25 out of 25 serves. Top servers were Kaylie Raver who went 13 for 13 and Callie Fletcher who was a perfect 9 for 9. Leading at the net was Isabelle Wonnell with 4 kills.

North Decatur Girls 7th Grade Volleyball beat Benjamin Rush Middle School 25-22, 25-11.
The 7th Grade ND chargers had a great night of serving and communication on the court to defeat the Rushville lady Lyons in 2 sets. Calleigh Alexander had a perfect night of serving with no missed serves,10 points and 5 aces. Libby Crawford followed up with 16 of 18 and 8 aces. Annie Waechter led the team with in passing with 10 good passes.
The team came back from a tough loss to St Mary’s on Tuesday and looked like a different team on the court. Everyone had a great night of working together and talking on the court.

Jac-Cen-Del High School Girls Varsity Volleyball falls to Milan Jr/Sr High School 25-13, 26-24, 22-25, 16-25, 15-9.
Jac-Cen-Del hosted the Milan Indians on Thursday night. The Eagles started off extremely slow and the first set scores showed. After fighting back from down 0-2 they lost the match in the 5th set.
Eagles Coach Cat Schmeltz—‘We continue to have slow starts to matches which hurts us in the long run. Once the kids start playing faster they play to their ability and we are able to win seats. We never really were able to pick the pace up in the first set and we lost big. In the second set, it took us about half the game to catch up, and once we did we just couldn’t get over the hump. The third and fourth sets were when we finally woke up and we were able to pull out two wins. Again our slow start in sets got to us in the fifth and we just ran out of time. I was really proud of our kids that they didn’t fold and quit playing they kept fighting and had a chance to win in the end.’

Greensburg Lady Pirates Soccer fell to the Madison Consolidated Cubs in the second home game of the season 2-1.
Even though the Lady Pirates defense managed to catch the Cubs offsides 14 times, it was not enough. The Cubs challenged Keeper Ella Lowe by taking 28 shots on goal, one of which was a penalty kick. While Lowe impressively kept 26 of those shots out, two managed to settle on the scoreboard.
It was a hard-fought matchup by both sides. The Pirates took 18 shots on goal with Macey Smith taking the most at six and Smith scoring the only Greensburg goal.
This brings the Pirates record to 4-3 as they go into a long break. For their next match up they travel to East Central on September 15.

Batesville Bulldogs traveled to Jac Cen Del High School to compete in a non-conference match winning 6-0.
Within the first half, Batesville managed to score 2 against JCD. Junior Adam Vogelsang crossed a ball from the width into JJ Kuisel for a shot in the goal. On the next goal, Ian Powers found Eli Pierson on a through ball to finish.
The second half started with the Bulldogs refocused to play their style which led to great possession and more threats on the back of the net. About 10 minutes into the half Ian Powers dribbled in, cut across his defender, and ripped into the goal. Then Cody Sims picks up a deflected ball and takes a low driven shot into the net. The 5th goal happened when Ian Powers’ shot was touched by a defender causing an own goal. The final goal of the match freshman Sebbie Trainor takes a free kick outside of the box which hits off the keeper’s gloves and over into the goal. Batesville’s defense held up eliminating any potential counter-attacks from JCD giving a shutout.

The Sunman-Dearborn AquaTrojans took on the AquaTrojans in the intersquad meet of the century!! The Red team was victorious over the Black team by 7 points. It was a great meet by all swimmers.

ECVB traveled to Lawrenceburg last night for a non-conference match-up. Freshmen fell in 2 sets, JV won in 2 sets, and varsity won in 5.
Varsity won with the scores of 25-20, 14-25, 25-22, 25-27, 15-10.
ECVB vs Lawrenceburg 9-4-20‘It’s been a long week for us that was topped off with a competitive rivalry win at Lawrenceburg. It doesn’t matter how good one team or both teams are, this match-up is always one to watch. It was a hard fought game by both teams. We had 19 service errors which killed any momentum we were trying to gain or keep, but the girls showed how resilient they are by pushing through and finding a way to win.’ Trojans Coach Cassie Laker.
