HMIN receives tax abatement for ‘Project Blast’

Greensburg, IN — At the Greensburg City Council meeting Tuesday, the Council voted in favor of a 10-year tax abatement for Honda Manufacturing of Indiana (HMIN). They have announced a $110 million dollar investment in the Greensburg plant that will bring 20 new jobs to the region, according to Chief Administrator Randy Powell. The project, titled “Project Blast”, will take place over a 3 year period and add 63,000 sq feet to the current facility.

In a statement from the automotive manufacturing leader, HMIN says it is preparing for the future of the Greensburg plant having already invested over $1 billion in the local facility to date, employing 2,500 associates in the state, and producing more than 2 million cars. HMIN states they are proud of the community,  the partnerships that have developed, and expect to continue to invest in Indiana to maintain the competitiveness of operations and ensure the facilities will remain state-of-the-art.
