“Rural communities often face unique challenges when it comes to accessing healthcare,” DCMH President and CEO, Rex McKinney said. “Healthy Fair is one of the ways DCMH brings care directly into our community by providing free screenings, health information, and access to healthcare professionals in one convenient location.”

Nursing leadership echoed that sentiment.

“By meeting our community where they are, we can help reduce barriers to care and connect individuals with the resources they need to support their health,” said Kristol Hadler, DCMH Executive Director, Nursing and Operations.

In addition to screenings and presentations, attendees had the opportunity to meet DCMH providers and care teams, connect with community organizations, explore the Cancer Prevention Expo Hall, receive health information and resources, enter to win door prizes, and enjoy a complimentary quick bite following the event.

“DCMH is focused on making healthcare easier to access for our neighbors, friends, and family,” said Liz McCoy, DCMH Marketing & Communications Manager. “For some, attending the DCMH Healthy Fair is a reassurance. For others, it may be the first step toward addressing a health concern they didn’t know they had.”

DCMH extends its gratitude to the community for attending, as well as the community partners, volunteers, and employees who helped make the event successful.

The free health screenings provided during Healthy Fair were made possible by DCMH and through the generosity of the Hospital Foundation of Decatur County and its supporters, along with Decatur County REMC, Duke Energy, Forvis Mazars, and other community partners committed to improving local health and wellness.
