Greensburg native has best night ever as a pro

Anaheim, Ca. — Major League Baseball pitcher for the Los Angeles Angels and Greensburg native, Alex Meyer had his best outing as a pro Wednesday night against the team that drafted him, The Washington Nationals.

Meyer stymied the National offense for the first 5 ½ innings on the way to a 7-0 shutout win. It was the first time since 2013 The Nationals have been on the wrong end of a one-hit shutout. He was called up Wednesday from triple-A Salt Lake City for his first major league start in two weeks.

The 2008 Greensburg High School graduate and Indiana Mr. Baseball was drafted 23rd in the first round of the 2011 MLB draft by the Washington Nationals and was traded to the Minnesota Twins following the 2012 season. Late last year the Twins shipped Meyer to the Angels for two pitchers and cash considerations.
