Greensburg Board of Works signs off on Park Road interlocal agreement

GREENSBURG, IN — The Greensburg Board of Works this week approved an interlocal agreement for the Park Road improvement project.

The idea to improve the corridor connecting downtown Greensburg to the parks on the southwest side of the city was first brought up in the Comprehensive Plan in 1985.

“I couldn’t be more proud to be a champion of the project and continue to want to see it come to fruition as we work to make it a safer passageway for both motorists vehicles, first responders, bicyclists, pedestrians…all of the above,” Mayor Joshua Marsh said.

The agreement was required by INDOT in order to receive federal funds matched with local dollars.

Decatur County Commissioners signed off on it last week.

Since most of the road is in the city and a portion is in the county, both government entities have partnered on the project.

The city will take the lead on the project at INDOT’s request since Greensburg will be in charge of three phases of the work.

Around $7 million to complete phases 1 and 2 of a four- to five-phase project were awarded earlier this year.

Construction has been scheduled by INDOT to begin in 2027, with completion targeted in 2030.

Mayor Marsh discussed the Park Road project on Wednesday’s edition of The Daily Pod on WRBI.
