Possible tornado touches down in southeastern Decatur County

SOUTHEASTERN IN  — The National Weather Service is sending a damage survey team to southeastern Decatur County, where a possible tornado touched down Wednesday night.

Most of the damage happened between Westport and Millhousen but there have been no reports of injuries.

If you are a Decatur County resident and had storm damage, you’re asked to contact Decatur County Emergency Management at (812) 663-2004 or email the agency at [email protected].

In addition to the tornado warning in Decatur County, Severe Thunderstorm Warnings were issued Wednesday night for Ripley, Franklin, and Dearborn counties, which reported scattered damage.

Decatur County REMC, Southeastern Indiana REMC, and Duke Energy crews responded to outages caused by the weather and restored power to customers affected by the service interruptions.

A number of roads were closed in Franklin County because of flooding and debris. Law enforcement says several slabs around the county were deemed impassible because of high water.
