Gov. Holcomb: 2017 a record year for job creation

Indianapolis, In. — Governor Eric Holcomb says economic development numbers for 2017 show a record year of growth for the Hoosier state. With one month still to go, Indiana has received 270 corporate commitments that represent almost 29,000 job opportunities.

The new positions have an average salary of $27.38 per hour or $57,000 annually.

“Indiana’s pro-business environment continues to be heard around the world as Hoosier businesses grow and companies across the globe choose Indiana,” Governor Holcomb said. “Today, we celebrate a record-breaking year, applauding the nearly 29,000 new Hoosier jobs that have been announced to-date in 2017. In 2018, we will take Indiana to the next level with an unwavering focus on the issues that matter most to Hoosiers and our state’s vitality.”

The largest job announcements came from UPS, Infosys, HMD Trucking, Beijing West Industries, Knowledge Services, Forest River, KAR Auction Services and Toyota Motor Manufacturing of Indiana.
