STATEHOUSE — A special session of the Indiana General Assembly that was supposed to start next Wednesday has been postponed.
As a result of the Supreme Court overturning Roe V. Wade, lawmakers expect the session to last longer than originally planned.
Gov. Eric Holcomb initially called the special session for lawmakers to hammer out a taxpayer refund plan.
The legislature is now expected to be gaveled into special session on July 25.
Republicans are using the extra weeks to craft legislation either restricting or banning abortion; Democrats want to ensure abortion remains legal and safe in Indiana.
