(Franklin County, IN) – The National Weather Service has confirmed an EF-0 tornado touched down near Brookville Monday evening.
The twister was on the ground northeast of Brookville for about seven minutes, with winds reaching as high as 85 mph.
The weather service’s damage assessment team determined it traveled nearly three miles and touched down in the Palawna Circle, Deer Ridge, Garr Hill, and Pea Ridge road areas.
Several homes had minor roof and siding damage.
A number of trees were either damaged or uprooted.
A backyard barn at one home was destroyed and a garage had a partial wall and roof collapse.
After crossing State Road 101, more significant tree damage occurred in a wooded area south of Pea Ridge Road.
Damage assessors say the tornado then appeared to cross some farm fields before lifting along Liberty Pike, where some minor tree damage was spotted.
There were no injuries reported.
The agency says most of the damage was along a narrow path with some minor convergent patterns noted in the damage path.
Drone footage and eyewitness videos from the public were also used in this assessment.
The National Weather Service is thanking the Franklin County Emergency Management Agency for their assistance in surveying the damage from this tornado.

EF-0…Weak……65 to 85 mph wind
EF-1…Weak……86 to 110 mph
EF-2…Strong….111 to 135 mph
EF-3…Strong….136 to 165 mph
EF-4…Violent…166 to 200 mph
EF-5…Violent…>200 mph
