LAWRENCEBURG, IN — A 22-year-old Lawrenceburg man was convicted by a Dearborn County jury this week of Stalking (Level 6 Felony).

Prosecutor Lynn Deddens said the case began when Cole Hornsby (pictured) became infatuated with a female classmate at East Central High School who did not reciprocate his advances.

Deddens said after he was expelled from school in 2018 for possessing a firearm, Hornsby continued to harass the victim by calling her and showing up on the street where she lived.

The victim obtained a civil protective order and testified that she wanted Hornsby to leave her alone and was scared by him and his actions.

“Hornsby’s actions have terrorized this victim. I am glad that jurors saw the evidence and convicted him,” Deddens said.

Convictions on Level 6 felonies carry a maximum sentence of two-and-a-half years.

Deddens praised the efforts of the father and son team of Joseph and Jefferson Kisor for prosecuting the case, Deputy Craig Elliott with the Dearborn County Sheriff’s Office for his investigative work.

Sentencing is set for May 5 in Dearborn Superior Court I before Judge Jonathan Cleary.
