Franklin County track coach Joe Davidson reported Chad Cox now holds the boys high jump record for the Wildcats.

During a meet Saturday at Pike, Cox started clearing jumps at 6’0″.  He later cleared 6’5″ to tie the 1997 record held by Ryan Rossi.  On his next jump, Cox broke the record at 6’6″.

After failing twice at 6’7″, Cox cleared the height to extend the competition.  He had one more big leap in him as he sailed over the bar at 6’8″ besting the former record by a full three inches.

Davidson notes 6’8″ is the third best high jump in the state reported this season so far.  And, for context, it would be ranked 12th in the Big Ten this year.

We thank coach Davidson for the information.
