“Concerning” hotline call forces Greensburg Schools to shelter in place Friday afternoon

GREENSBURG, IN — Greensburg Community Schools instituted a shelter-in-place Friday afternoon.

Superintendent Tom Hunter said the shelter-in-place in all three buildings went into effect around 1:30pm, after the school corporation was informed by the Greensburg Police Department about a concerning crisis hotline phone call traced back to Greensburg schools property.

In a statement to the Greensburg schools community, Hunter said the corporation cooperated with law enforcement to fully investigate the situation.

He added at no point were any students at risk, thanks to protocols being followed and the secure locking of all facilities.

Hunter says the schools were able to operate as normal after the incident was addressed.
