(Dearborn County, IN) – Southeastern Indiana 8th graders had a final opportunity during the 2023-24 school year to learn about the grownup life at WRBI’s Reality Check on Thursday at South Dearborn Middle School near Aurora.

In addition to the host school, 8th grade students from Milan and Greendale middle schools also went through the program.

The kids had to select careers, budget and deal with family issues, among other things.

“To see the community come in and work with these kids to show them the importance of what we call the real world and what it looks like, I think, is most beneficial to our students,” said South Dearborn Middle School Principal David Ladner. “It’s great to see the kids interact with the adults here and seeing their reaction when it comes to where they’re going in this game of life, whether they have money left over at the end of the day and what their expenditures are during the day.”
