Chargers Come Up Short Against Panthers On Walk-Off

A walk-off left The North Decatur Chargers on the wrong end of a 4-3 defeat to The Knightstown Panthers on Monday.

The game was tied at three with K-town batting in the bottom of the seventh when an error scored one run. ND lost despite out-hitting The Panthers seven to five.

The Chargers got on the board in the first inning. Conner Messer’s sac fly scored one run. Carson Smith was on the hill for K-town. Smith went five innings, allowing three runs on seven hits and striking out eight. Jacob Mirick was on the mound for North. The pitcher allowed two hits and one run over two innings, striking out three. Ty Litmer and Trent Gauck entered the game as relief, throwing four innings and two-thirds of an inning respectively.

Noah Howell went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead The Chargers in hits. Knightstown tallied five hits in the game. Brady McDaniel and Jace Wilkerson all collected multiple hits for the Panthers.
