Cause of death for boy found in suitcase released

SELLERSBURG, IN — The cause of death for a young boy found inside a suitcase last month in Washington County has been released.

Investigators say the unidentified boy died from gastric issues and an electrolyte imbalance.

Indiana State Police have asked the public for help in identifying the boy, who was found in a piece of luggage featuring the iconic “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas” sign.

The child is described as a Black male, around four feet tall with a slim build, between five and eight years old.

SELLERSBURG, IN — Indiana State Police released more details on Tuesday about the little boy whose body was found last weekend in a wooded area in Washington County.

Investigators say the child’s remains were found inside a suitcase featuring the iconic “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas” sign on it.

The child is described as a Black male, around four feet tall with a slim build, between five and eight years old.

State Police said he doesn’t match any missing children cases in Indiana, and they think he may be from out of state.

An autopsy did not indicate any obvious signs of death.

Investigators are now waiting on toxicology test results to see if those can yield answers in the case.
