GREENSBURG, Ind. — Greensburg police are investigating multiple gun related 911 complaints.
Late yesterday morning, Greensburg police along with the Decatur County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched close to the Greensburg Community Schools for multiple complaints of gunshots.
None of the reports referenced the gunshots on school property.
Greensburg schools were made aware of the situation and measures were taken on the schools end to keep the students safe.
While police were investigating the gunshots complaint, another 911 call was made, this time referencing a Silver SUV pointing a firearm out the window at an individual near the City Park near State Road 3.
Greensburg Police, the Decatur County Sheriff’s Department, and the Indiana State Police responded and began an investigation.
An off duty Greensburg police officer heard the call and responded to the area, and located the vehicle that matched the description given in the complaint.
The off duty officer stopped the vehicle on the US 421 overpass over Interstate 74.
The driver was detained and put in custody, but the name has not been released as the investigation is still ongoing.
At this time, police do not believe that the 2 incidents are connected.
