(Decatur County, IN) – Several agencies took part in a water rescue after a vehicle became submerged at the intersection of County Road 60 West and 750 South in Decatur County around 7:40 Wednesday morning.

Heavy rains impacted parts of the area, and a vehicle entered the flooded roadway and became stranded in high water.

Crews successfully rescued everyone in the trapped vehicle, and there were no injuries reported.

First responders say this serves as a reminder of the dangers posed by flooded roads.

“Just a small amount of moving water can carry away a vehicle, and road conditions beneath floodwaters are often impossible to assess,” reads a statement from the Letts Community Volunteer Fire Department. “Drivers should never attempt to cross flooded roads or drive through standing water.”

Also responding were the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office, Decatur County EMS, Greensburg Police Department, and the Marion Township Volunteer Fire Department.
