The Milwaukee Brewers held off the Reds 6-5 at Great American Ball Park in a game heard last night on WRBI. Milwaukee completes the three-game series sweep despite Cincinnati pounding out 11 hits and drawing 11 walks. The Reds stranded 16 baserunners and were 3-for-17 with runners in scoring position. Rhett Lowder (3-5) took the loss. He went 5 2/3 innings, allowed eight hits, three earned runs, and one walk while striking out six. The Reds are off today before starting a two-city, seven-game road trip with the first of three tomorrow night in Pittsburgh.

The Reds sent pitcher Chris Paddack outright to Triple-A Louisville on Wednesday. Paddack then informed the ballclub that he will elect free agency in lieu of accepting the outright assignment.

The Phoenix Mercury got past the Indiana Fever 111-109 in WNBA action last night in downtown Indianapolis. Kelsey Mitchell tossed in a game-high 30 points while Aliyah Boston added 23. Caitlin Clark scored 19 points before leaving the game in the 3rd quarter with a back injury. The Fever (10-8) wraps up the homestand Saturday night against the Los Angeles Sparks.

The Indiana Pacers selected former Purdue star and Indianapolis area native Braden Smith with the 38th overall pick in the NBA draft last night following a trade with the Chicago Bulls. The Pacers sent Kam Jones, future picks swaps and cash considerations to the Bulls in the deal. Smith is the NCAA’s all-time assists leader…His former Boilermaker teammate Trey Kaufman-Renn was selected with the 59th and next-to-last pick by the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The Indianapolis Colts will open training camp July 29 at Grand Park Sports Campus with 13 practices open to fans through August 20. Rookies report July 27, with veterans reporting the next day (July 28). The schedule includes Family Day, Salute to Service, and Kicking the Stigma events. The Colts will hold joint practices with the Atlanta Falcons on Aug. 19 and 20. It will be the team’s final training camp at Grand Park.

2026 Indianapolis 500 winner Felix Rosenqvist is leaving Meyer Shank Racing (MSR) at the end of the season. The 34-year-old will vacate the No. 60 MSR Honda. Rosenqvist joined the team in 2024 after spending three seasons with Arrow McLaren (2021-23) and two seasons with Chip Ganassi Racing (2019-20). Rosenqvist is the first IndyCar driver to announce a move for the upcoming offseason.
