(Greensburg, IN) – The controlled water release continues at the Lake McCoy Dam near Greensburg.
Another round took place on Monday, and officials say these will continue until the lake reaches a target elevation established by engineers.
A similar release was conducted on Sunday, with no negative impacts to public safety or downstream areas identified.
Officials say inclement weather prevented the completion of Sunday’s release, and additional water was let go on Monday to complete the previous day’s operation.
Residents along Cobbs Fork Creek and other downstream areas may notice increased water flow and elevated creek levels; but officials say significant impacts are not expected.
The Lake McCoy Conservancy, in coordination with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Division of Water, engineering consultants, and excavating contractors, have been monitoring and addressing structural concerns identified at the Lake McCoy Dam since last week.
