(Batesville, IN) – Construction on the Batesville Memorial Public Library’s Arts and Innovation Hub is proceeding on schedule and on budget, according to library director Kim Porter.
“Everything is going great right now. Drywall is up, there’s primer and paint on walls, the ceiling grid is being put in, all of the windows are in, most of the doors are in. So everything is running smoothly,” Porter said.
The multi-million dollar, 8,300-square-foot facility will include a 200-person meeting room, and Porter says they are tentatively set to begin taking reservations in June for those who want to rent it for classes, symposiums and workshops.
“If you already have an idea of a program that you would like to do or something for your business, give us a call and we’ll get you on the schedule,” she said.
Porter says you can call the library at (812) 934-4706 and ask for Kim or Cassie.
The Hub will also have a maker space, an audio/visual recording area, meeting and collaboration spaces, reading and study rooms, and an office for the Batesville Area Arts Council.
The outside will include an event lawn and gathering plaza.
The project is being funded by a $2 million READI grant, $6.1 million in bond sales, plus grants and donations.
The facility is scheduled to open later this year.
