(Statehouse) – Indiana House Republican leadership has released the first draft of the Congressional map they’d like to see put into effect prior to the 2026 midterm elections.
The map, which is posted to the Indiana House Republicans website, significantly alters many of the state’s nine congressional districts to favor the GOP (pictured).
For example, Indianapolis would be divided between four congressional districts.
The House was expected to convene Monday afternoon.
Indiana Senate Democrats are rejecting the newly proposed congressional map.
Democratic Leader Shelli Yoder criticized the plan as “rigging,” claiming it was drawn to meet the demands of President Donald Trump and, not the will of Hoosier voters.
Democrats argue the map is “cheating, not competing” and ignores urgent issues such as rising utility and housing costs, instead focusing on protecting party interests over the fundamental rights of constituents.
