The Gold Award is for a 3.75 or higher Weighted Grade Point Average, while the Silver Award goes to WGPAs between 3.5 and 3.74. This award is open to seniors only.

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase is a nominee for the FedEx air and ground player of the week for his record setting performance against the Pittsburgh Steelers last Thursday night. Chase caught a franchise-record 16 passes for 161 yards a touchdown in the Bengals 33-31 victory over the Steelers in Week 7. You can vote for Chase at NFL.com/FedEx until 3 p.m. Wednesday.
The Indianapolis Colts will be without a member of their front seven for a while. According to ESPN, veteran pass rusher Samson Ebukam is expected to miss multiple weeks after suffering an MCL injury. The Colts own the best record in the NFL at 6-1 heading into Sunday’s home game against the Tennessee Titans.
The Indiana Pacers have signed Aaron Nesmith to a two-year, $40 million contract extension. Nesmith is going into his sixth year in the league and fourth with the Pacers. He averaged 12 points per game last season during Indiana’s run to the NBA Finals. The Pacers are one day away from tipping off the regular season against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Meanwhile, Pacers rookie forward Kam Jones has apologized for his arrest that happened earlier this week. Jones was arrested after what police are calling a “short police chase” because he was driving recklessly. Jones and the Pacers say that he was speeding because he thought he was going to be late for practice. Head coach Rick Carlisle says the incident should result in “no more than a speeding ticket.”
In college basketball, Purdue guard Braden Smith has been named a unanimous preseason All-American by The Associated Press with all 57 votes from a media panel. This recognition comes after Smith decided to return to Coach Matt Painter’s Boilermaker program for another shot at a national championship.
Testing is taking place this week for the NTT IndyCar Series at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Several drivers were on hand to turn some laps, including Alex Palou and Pato O’Ward. IndyCar and IMS president Doug Boles also spoke with the media and said they are getting closer to having a brand new car for the series. IndyCar has used the same chassis with different components since 2013.
