In varsity baseball last evening, Batesville topped Lawrenceburg 12-2 in 6 innings. Will Jaisle struck out 13 while giving up one run on 2 hits with 1 walk in six innings of work to get the win. The Bulldogs scored six runs in the top of the 6th. As a team, BHS banged out 12 hits on the evening. Batesville improves to 11-3 overall and remains on top of the EIAC with a 7-1 mark…In the JV contest, it was Lawrenceburg over Batesville 8-0.

North Decatur crushed county rival South Decatur 23-5 in junior high baseball. Landon Rohls had 4 hits to lead the Chargers, who as a team had 16 hits.

Batesville varsity golf won a three-way match over Greensburg and Franklin County last night at Hillcrest. It was the Bulldogs 146, the Pirates 170 and the Wildcats 171. Batesville senior Jackson Day earned medalist honors by carding a 35.

Batesville Middle School golf remains undefeated after winning a four-way match in Shelbyville that included St. Louis and Madison. It was the Bulldogs 179, the host Golden Bears 211, the Cardinals 213 and the Cubs 222. BMS’s Stella Maple was the medalist after shooting a 42.

East Central High School Principal Tom Black was elected President of the IHSAA Board of Directors for 2025-26. Black has been serving as IHSAA board vice president during the current school year.

Also at Monday’s meeting, the IHSAA Board conducted its annual review of the Member School By-Laws, and formally adopted changes to Rule 19 when it comes to first-time transfers, added Girls Flag Football to its Emerging Sport Process, and a proposal allowing two schools to enter into co-op arrangements failed to receive enough support.

The Pacers and Cavaliers meet in Game Two of their Eastern Conference semifinal playoff series tonight in Cleveland. Indiana leads the best of seven series one game to none. Coverage begins at 6:30 on the Sports Voice.

The Braves shut out the Reds 4-0 in Atlanta in a game heard last night on WRBI. Cincinnati notched just one hit in the game – a single by Santiago Espinal in the 7th inning. Reds rookie outfielder Tyler Calihan suffered a broken forearm after crashing into the wall in leftfield while trying to catch a fly ball near the foul line in the bottom of the 3rd inning.  Calihan is flying back to Cincinnati and is expected to undergo surgery. The two teams meet again tonight. First pitch at 7:15. We’ll join the game in progress following Pacers playoff basketball.
