Class 1A #11 North Decatur tripped Jac-Cen-Del 61-40 in girls basketball last night on WRBI. Madi Allen led the Chargers with 33 points. Elsewhere, Class 3A #1 Greensburg knocked off Connersville 75-39; It was Decatur Central sliding past East Central 39-32, and South Ripley bested Switzerland County 58-34. Claire Samples and Kaiya Rinear tossed in 19 points a piece for the Raiders.

In boys hoops action last night, Jennings County toppled Greensburg 78-60; Milan beat Waldron 67-60, and it was Madison over North Decatur 68-36.

Coming up tonight, South Ripley entertains Shawe Memorial.

Batesville Middle School boys basketball took two from South Dearborn last night. It was the 7th grade Bulldogs over the Knights 44-13, while the BMS 8th graders scored a season-high number of points in their 50-19 win.

Batesville girls swimming defeated Greensburg 80-74. It was the Pirates over the Bulldogs in the boys meet 104-20.

The Ripley County Basketball Hall of Fame Board of Directors has selected the 2025 induction class. The nine inductees will be recognized between the consolation and championship games of the Ripley County Boys Basketball Tournament on Saturday, January 11 at South Ripley. Greensburg has hired Isaac Sliger as head football coach and faculty member. Sliger was head coach at Rushville the past four years. Under his guidance, the Lions won the EIAC Small School Division championship this past season. Sliger and his family will be welcomed at a meet-and-greet tonight at 6 in Greensburg High School’s Goddard Auditorium.

The NFL has released start times for Week 17 games. The Bengals’ home game against the Denver Broncos will kickoff at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 28. The Colts’ road contest versus the New York Giants will begin at 1 p.m. on Sunday, December 29.

Indiana’s Curt Cignetti is the AP College Football Coach of the Year. In his first year as coach of the Hoosiers, Cignetti has led IU to a school-record 11 wins, a top 10 ranking and a first ever College Football Playoff berth, in which the Hoosiers go up against Notre Dame in South Bend Friday night.
