It’s a big change in the weather starting the new week, so in the diamond lives, just about everybody should be able to get their games played today. The softball schedule includes Oldenburg Academy going to Lawrenceburg this afternoon… Rushville will be in Greensburg… North Decatur visits Tri… Batesville goes to Connersville… and Franklin County will be at East Central.
Baseball has East Central entertaining Connersville… Batesville going to Franklin County… North Decatur hosting Morristown… Greensburg at South Dearborn… and Waldron at Oldenburg Academy. And for a couple schools, it’ll be both teams together, with the Jac-Cen-Del boys AND girls hosting Milan today, and both South Ripley squads entertaining Southwestern of Hanover.
In track & field competition Friday, Batesville’s girls were the runners-up and the Bulldog boys captured 3rd place, at the Bill Self Invitational meet at Franklin Community High in Indianapolis. It was cold, windy– and the ‘Dogs posted 16 personal bests in the meet, winning 2 events.
Coach Lisa Gausman will talk about that meet and more, and she’ll be joined by East Central track coach Ashley Andres, tonight on the next-to-last Coaches’ Corner show of the 23-24 school year, live at 6:00 from Ison’s Family Pizza in downtown Batesville. They’ll have some of their athletes along, as well. Should be a great time as always with our All-Star, your host Terrance Arney. He’ll also have a conversation with Oldenburg Academy baseball Coach Patrick Kolks on the show.
The men who get the big bucks to play these kids’ games are back on the fields and on the air tonight. After sweeping the White Sox in 3 in Chicago, Cincinnati’s Reds are now in Seattle, where they’ll face the Mariners… and their broadcast begins at 9:12 this evening, only on the radio, on the Sports Voice, 103.9 FM, WRBI.
Indiana’s High School Athletic Association has come to a new 3-year deal with the Colts, to keep playing the state championship football games at Lucas Oil Stadium. IHSAA says its very excited and grateful to be continuing the partnership. The Colts say it continues their commitment to growing the game, all across the state.
In the NBA, the Pacers wrapped up their regular season in spectacular fashion at home Sunday, hammering the Atlanta Hawks 157-115. Next, Indiana opens the playoffs this Sunday, taking on the Bucks in Game 1 of a best-of-7 series in Milwaukee.
At the most prestigious golf tournament of them all, the 88th annual Masters in Augusta, Georgia, the world’s current Number 1 men’s player, Texan Scottie Scheffler, wears the green jacket for a 2nd time in just 3 years. Scheffler finished 11 under par for the 4 days, shooting a 68 in Sunday’s final round. Ludvig Aberg was 2nd at 7 under, then Tommy Fleetwood, Max Homa, and Collin Morikawa tied for 3rd at 4 under par. From a total purse of $18 million, Scheffler, whose wife is about to have their first baby, wins a record $3.6 million.
