Friday night in Seymour, WRBI was on hand for the Batesville Lady Bulldogs and the host Lady Owls.  In the 8200 seat Lloyd E. Scott Gymnasium, Seymour beat BHS 57-42.

The Bulldogs were hampered by 19 first half turnovers and a deficit of 10-2 on the offensive glass as Seymour led 26-16 at intermission.  If it were not for Batesville hitting four of five shots from the arc, the deficit certainly would have been much greater.

Emma Weiler and Alyson Peters scored six and five points respectively in the first half for the visitors.  The hosts saw Brooke Trinkle tally 11.

The Dogs came out more aggressively in the second half and took better care of the basketball.  As a result, Batesville got within four of the host Owls.  However, the Bulldogs couldn’t sustain the momentum.  Seymour went back up by nine by the end of the third and eventually went on to win by 15.

The final 16 minutes were better than the first as Batesville had just six miscues in the second half.  And while the Bulldogs still struggled in the offensive rebound category (18-5 deficit), they did mange to get to the line 20 times in the second half and made an impressive 17 attempts.

For Batesville, Weiler scored 10 more points in the second half to finish with a team-high 16.  Alyson Peters followed with nine and Carley Pride added eight.  Seymour got 17 points from Kendall Sterling (11 in the second half)  and 15 from Trinkle.
