Bulldog Harriers Successful Weekend At EC Invitational

The Batesville Bulldog Cross Country teams were up very early this morning and headed to St. Leon to compete in the East Central Invitational.

The Boys Varsity opened up the morning as the gun went off to start their race at 9 am.  Although there were 13 teams in the race, in the end it was divided by two Divisions.  Batesville was in the 1st division and totaled a very low score of 19.  Batesville’s senior Adam Moster was the over champion for Division I with a time of 16:46.  He was very closely followed by teammates Joshua Myers, 2nd (16:49) and Ean Loichinger, 3rd (16:54).  There was a brief gap, then Batesville had 3 more right in a row, led by Benjamin Moster, 6th (17:25), Adam Hollowell, 7th (17:28) and Daren Smith, 8th (17:55).  Also placing in the top 20 for the Dogs was Nathan Villani in 13th (18:44).

The girls definitely showed their depth today as the decision was made to let our top two runners rest and heal up some slight aches and pains.  The lady dogs stepped up their game and proved how deep we are winning the meet with an almost perfect score of 16 points!  Batesville was led by freshman Ava Hanson who was the overall champion for Division I with a personal best time of 20:42.  Just 6 seconds behind at 20:48 was another freshman, Madison Rahschulte, also running a personal best.  Madison was followed by teammates Maria Lopez, 4th (21:08), Trysta Vierling, 5th (21:29) and Sophie Myers, 7th (21:29).  Also placing in the top 20 were Carley Pride, 11th (22:14), Sarah Ripperger, 13th (22:26) and Katie Olsen, 17th (22:49).

There was also a JV race today.  Although they did not score the race as far as team scores go, they did give awards to the top 10 and Batesville claimed 9 of the 20 awards.  On the boys side, Charlie Laymon was the overall JV champions with a time of 18:53…beating the rest of the field by 43 seconds.  Coming in 2nd and 3rd were Will Nuhring and Kasin Hughes respectively.  Taking 7th-10th spots were Luke Nuhring, Landon Gutzwiller, Alex Livers and Luke Esser.  The girls placed two in the top 10 and they were in spots 6 and 7, Jada Eisert and Hope Kroen.  Congratulations everyone!

There were also several personal bests from the morning…Adam Hollowell, Will Nuhring, Kasin Hughes, Ava Hanson, Madison Rahschulte, Maria Lopez and Carley Pride.  Way to go dogs!  This is not an easy course to earn a personal best on.

The Dogs get another week to prepare for their next BIG invitational which will be up in Indianapolis at Ben Davis High School next Saturday.
