Paul Edward Gausman, 90, of Batesville, Indiana passed away on Tuesday, July 10, 2018.
Born April 14, 1928 in Batesville Indiana, he was the son of Henry and Martha (nee: Weber) Gausman. Paul found his niche in construction and later started his own company, Batesville Masonry. The 1945 Batesville High School graduate was a lifetime member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Crossroads. The proud U.S. Army veteran served during the Korean War.
He married Janet Kremp on October 16th, 1954 and she preceded him in death in 1989. Together they had six children, Pauletta (Tom) Meyer, April (Jeff) Evans, Judy (Tim) Gausman, Scott (Lisa) Gausman, Andy (Casey) Gausman and Tony (Lisa) Gausman; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandchild, Nathaniel Meyer.
He married Marilyn Gibson on September 15, 1990 and she survives along with her children, Michael Gibson, Philip Gibson, Melody Briner and six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He is also survived by two sisters Edith Masheck and Stella Long along with many nieces and nephews.
Paul grew up on a farm and loved being outdoors. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his kids and grandkids. He liked doing woodworking and in his later years was well known for whittling many canes. Paul belonged to the Woodland Association and was awarded the Indiana Forestry Award for the large oak trees he nurtured around his home. He was an avid reader of history and card player, participating in his card club for over 27 years. Most of all Paul enjoyed being with family and spending time at home.
Visitation will be held from 4p.m. – 8p.m. on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at Meyers Funeral Home, 1150 St. Rd. 46 E, Batesville. The funeral services will be held 11:00am on Friday, July 13th at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Crossroads, 664 St. Rd. 299, Batesville. Burial will follow in the St. Paul’s Crossroads Lutheran Church Cemetery with military graveside rites. Pastor Creighton P. Leptak officiating.
