State’s jobless rate remains at 5.7 percent

INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana’s unemployment rate held steady in November at 5.7 percent, the third month in a row for no change.

Indiana Department of Workforce Development data shows the state added 15,800 jobs last month, the most in a one-month period in 15 years.

November marks the eleventh consecutive month Indiana’s jobless numbers are below the national average.

Locally, Decatur County boasts the lowest unemployment rate at 5.1 percent. Dearborn and Franklin counties are also below the state average at 5.3 percent.

Ripley County’s November numbers show 6.4 percent and Fayette County had the highest jobless rate in the state at 7.9 percent.
