Jennings County Gun Dealer Killed; Three Arrested

Three men are behind bars after they were arrested in connection to the shooting death of a Jennings County gun store owner.

Authorities served a search warrant on a home in Indianapolis Monday night.

Dejuan Andre Worthen, 23, Darion Dashon Harris, 20, and Darryl Anthony Worthen, 24, were booked into the Jennings County Jail on suspicion of Murder and Robbery.

Police say the charges stem from an ongoing investigation into the death of Scott Maxie, 61, of Hayden, who was found shot to death Sunday in the gun store he owned, Muscatatuck Outdoors, in North Vernon.

The ATF and National Shooting Sports Foundation are offering a $10,000 reward for information pertaining to the death and robbery.

NORTH VERNON, Ind. –Authorities in Jennings County say a gun shop owner was shot and killed in an apparent robbery at his business near North Vernon.

The body of Scott Maxie, 61, was discovered by officers Sunday at Muscatatuck Outdoors, a federally licensed gun dealership.

Investigators say numerous firearms, both handguns and long guns, were stolen from the business.

Anyone having information about the murder and robbery should contact the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) at 1-800-283-4867. All calls will be kept confidential.

ATF is offering a reward of up $5,000, which will be matched by the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) for a total possible reward of $10,000.

This reward is part of a larger national cooperative initiative between the NSSF and ATF in which NSSF matches ATF rewards in cases involving the theft of firearms from federally licensed retailers.  ATF works closely with the members of the firearms industry to curb the criminal acquisition and misuse of firearms.
