Effort

You have to admire the effort the Cincinnati Bearcats men’s basketball team puts into every game.  Coach Cronin and his staff have taken a program with a storied history in basketball and raised it to another level.  In the recent past some of their coaches had a lot of wins but few of their players graduated, and (in some cases) you wondered if they were just on campus to play basketball.  Today the team is not only a conference champ but most of the seniors will graduate–some even in 4 years.

The only block in Coach Cronin’s career at UC was the fiasco with Xavier a few years back.  He turned that incident into a great learning experience, and since that day his program has really risen.  They are definitely in the NCAA Tournament, and if they can win their conference tourney they should get a very high seed in this years’ Big Dance.

I doubt if Coach Cronin will leave his hometown, but after watching some of Purdue and IU’s recent games both schools could use a Coach Cronin.
