Indianapolis, In. — Republican state representative from Batesville Cindy Ziemke has been selected to serve on the Indiana Commission to Combat Drug Abuse, which will work to reduce the prevalence of drug abuse and addiction in Indiana.
In the upcoming months, the commission will examine ways to implement comprehensive community plans to address substance abuse through treatment, prevention and enforcement.
“Summer is a great time to fully study topics affecting our community and state,” Ziemke said. “Drug abuse is a growing epidemic in our state that we must continue to address. We will be able to call on the assistance of experts and leaders in this area, as well as members of the public, to develop a strategy to help Hoosiers combat this issue.”
Ziemke said information about commission meetings can be found at iga.in.gov. This site also provides committee calendars, meeting agendas and live streaming of committee hearings.
Ziemke will also serve on the Interagency State Council on Black and Minority Health.
