“Together for Mental Health” is the theme of Mental Health Month in May

LAWRENCEBURG, IN — One in five people will experience a mental illness during their lifetime, but everyone faces daily challenges that can impact their mental health. The good news is there are strategies and coping skills everyone can use to improve their mental health and increase resiliency.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, which is important for calling attention to strategies and approaches that can help achieve wellness.

Community Mental Health Center, Inc. (CMHC) encourages community members to focus on their mental health not just in May, but year-round. For those struggling with maintaining their mental health, CMHC can help.

“It’s important to us to serve our communities well, and part of that is breaking down the mental health stigma,” said CMHC President and CEO Greg Duncan.

This year’s theme is “Together for Mental Health.” This theme emphasizes that “Together, we can realize our shared vision of a nation where anyone affected by mental illness can get the
appropriate support and quality of care to live healthy, fulfilling lives.”

Information on the Together for Mental Health theme can be found at nami.org/Get-Involved/AwarenessEvents/Mental-Health-Awareness-Month.

CMHC believes that everyone should have access to the appropriate support and services when it comes to being well, from mental to physical health.

A place to start your mental health journey is to take the screening at cmhcinc.org on the right side of the home page.

“Screening is a first step for identifying areas of concern, and potentially for seeking professional help,” said Duncan.

CMHC provides behavioral health and substance use disorders services in Dearborn, Franklin, Ohio, Ripley, and Switzerland counties.
