(Osgood, IN) – Southeastern Indiana REMC says SEI Fiber customers may notice improvements in service after a temporary solution was been implemented to restore connectivity.
Fiber customers throughout the area were affected by a widespread internet outage after a fiber line outside SEI Fiber’s network was cut late Tuesday night
Multiple service providers in the area were also affected.
While many customers are now back online, those with higher-speed packages may experience slower-than-normal internet speeds while the temporary solution is in place.
Customers who are still without service should unplug their ONT (Optical Network Terminal), wait approximately 30 seconds, plug it back in, and then restart their router.
“SEI Fiber continues to work closely with our upstream fiber provider as efforts continue toward a permanent solution. At this time, we cannot confirm or deny the exact cause of the outage, as we have not been provided with that information,” reads a statement from SEI REMC.
Customers should be aware that additional service interruptions may occur as permanent repairs are completed. SEI Fiber says it will continue providing updates as confirmed information becomes available.
“Over the next several days, we will continue to communicate updates regarding the permanent repair process and any potential impacts to SEI Fiber customers,” the cooperative said. “We appreciate your patience and understanding as restoration efforts continue.”
