Superintendent: BCSC in a financially “good place”

Batesville Schools Superintendent Paul Ketcham

BATESVILLE, IN — The Batesville Community School Corporation is in a good place, financially.

That’s according to Superintendent Paul Ketcham, who reported to the school board this week that assessed valuation on the corporation’s properties increased slightly – allowing Batesville schools to collect more from property tax revenues.

“We were able to grant all of our employees a really nice raise over the next two years,” Ketcham said. “We want to not just stay up with the cost of living but maybe get people a little ahead.”

Ketcham said that, coupled with increased enrollment plus the state raising the dollar amount per student, is what he calls “a double positive.”

“If our employees feel valued, and appreciate coming to work every day, student outcome and achievement increases,” he added. “So, it’s my priority to the best of my ability to take care of our employees, and provide them a good work environment and provide them a good salary.”
