
(Greensburg, IN) – Congratulations to the winners at the recent Greensburg High School Science Fair.
The event featured three categories: Life Science, Physical Science and Environmental Science.
Averi Helms’ “Temperature and pH Effects on Daphnia Heart Rate” project was awarded overall Grand Champion. The project finished first in the Life Science category.
Other top finishers in Life Science include Alaina Schwering’s project called “Learning Style Impact on Choreography” and Mya Comer and Mary Harmon’s “Music Effect on Heart EKGs.”
Chloe Dick won first place in the Physical Science competition for her project called “Musical Performance Correlation on Muscle Dexterity.”
Zayden Miller and Ethan Smith’s “Corking Material Impact on Baseball Velocity” came in second and Emma Richards’ “Thermodynamics of Coffee Cup Insulation” placed third.
During the Environmental Science portion, Kamryn Haas’ “Erosion Prevention” won first place.
That was followed by Carlie Case and Emberlynn Myers’ “Caffeine Impact on Heart Rate and Blood Pressure,” and Ryan Rutherford’s “Bacterial Growth in Sheep Age Groups.”
Honorable mentions were awarded to Lydia Hersley for her “Efficacy of Medication Coatings” project, and Alaina Hostetler, who conducted “Age Effects on Animal Problem Solving Skills.”
The science fair was led by Science teacher Scott Mangels, and judged by Steven Webster and Dennis Spears.
Mangels also credited Doug Watson for assisting with technical requirements this year.
